A after-school space for young people aged 11–18, every Wednesday from 3.30–5.30pm at Gurnell Community Centre (W13 0AE). A welcoming environment with games, food, mentoring, friendship and community.

The Grove Basement Youth Café mirrors our established Ealing Broadway site: activities, games, food, creative workshops, tournaments and opportunities for mentoring - all in a space where every young person is welcomed and valued.

The Grove’s Team Leader
Joshua leads the team at The Grove Basement Youth Café, where he’s passionate about creating a space young people can call their own - a place to chill after school, have fun, build friendships and feel supported.
Before stepping into youth work, Joshua worked as a chemical engineer - so don’t be surprised if you catch him explaining the science behind a smoothie or running a tournament like a well-oiled machine.
He’s married to Beth, loves food and sport, was born in South Africa, and - yes - he really is that tall.
Key partner
The Grove Community Church is a local church based on the Gurnell Grove Estate in Hanwell, West London. The work first began in 2016 with the Eden Gurnell Grove team, who committed to living on the estate and serving the community. In 2022, this long-term presence grew into what is now The Grove Community Church, which exists to see lives changed, hope restored, community transformed.
Rooted in the life of the estate, The Grove seeks to create spaces of welcome, friendship, and support for local residents. Alongside Sunday gatherings, the church is involved in a range of community activities that offer connection, practical help, and a place to explore faith.
Their heart is simply to be a faithful, hope-filled presence on Gurnell Grove.
